Health Innovation Hub Ireland (HIHI), established by the Department of Health and the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, and supported by Enterprise Ireland and the HSE, exists to facilitate collaboration between healthcare and industry. Its mission: better solutions, better outcomes and a culture where innovation thrives.
By connecting entrepreneurs and clinicians, it opens the door to clinical expertise, testing environments and real-world feedback — creating a bridge between bright ideas and bedside impact. That same bridge now supports the HIHI.AI 2025 Call.

Uncovering AI across industries
Launched to uncover Ireland’s most promising AI-driven health innovations, the initiative aims to show how intelligent technology can help tackle the system’s toughest challenges — from long waiting lists to strained resources and diagnostic delays.
While AI has revolutionised industries like finance and retail, healthcare has been slower to catch up. Our initiative seeks to change that by providing a structured process to assess, validate and implement AI tools safely in real-world settings.
The call drew 44 submissions, with 20 shortlisted to present their ideas to expert assessors. Winners will be announced in November 2025. The shortlist reflects a thriving AI health community — from predictive algorithms that support early diagnosis to intelligent communication platforms that ease triage and patient management.
Many projects target time-saving automation, reducing admin and compliance tasks, while others explore voice and language technologies that assist older adults, enhance cognitive health and improve accessibility. Virtual simulation tools are also reimagining medical training in safer, smarter ways.
